This is Part 13 in our NYC personal injury video series: “I tripped and fell on the street. What should I do?”
Transcript:
Well, are you on the ground? If so, look back and see what it is you tripped on. Did you feel your foot catch on something? Was it a crack? Was it a hole? Was it a crevice? Was it the Grand Canyon? I mean, these are all things that you want to know about. At first, you’re going feel shock. You’re going feel pain probably in some part of your body, but you definitely want to look back and see what it is that you tripped on.
Next thing, if there are witnesses, you want to get their names, if you can, and their phone numbers. You want to have someone call the police, call an ambulance, and get yourself checked out. If you can, if you’re feeling up to it, take a photograph of what it is you tripped on. Take a look up and see where you tripped. What’s the address of the building? What street are you on? What direction are you going? This is something that’s going to be important for your attorney to know about. Where did you fall and what did you fall on?
